Latest Updates from Our Project:

Added Last-Minute Pledge Level: Nordlond To Go!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Dec 07, 2021 at 01:40:32 PM

I've gotten a few pings in the last hour about "well, I already have the box set, but I don't have any physical Nordlond books, and I want to help the campaign."

Well, so be it.

Nordlond To Go! ($325)

This includes Print AND PDF of everything I make. Does not include the box set or Monsters 2 (neither of which, of course, I make). Does include the cards, the QR PDF, and the VTT Token Pack.

Bestiary Surpasses Nordvorn as best-ever DFRPG (for me)
over 2 years ago – Tue, Dec 07, 2021 at 09:42:06 AM

The Nordlond Fantasy Bestiary and Enemies book is now 160 pages, with 25 hours to go.

It has surpassed The Citadel at Nordvorn in backer count, making the Bestiary the highest backer count of any Dungeon Fantasy RPG project I've run thus far.

The next stretch goal for 176 pages is at $46,000 - the funding is at this moment at $43,400 ... so $2,600 or (going by the average) about 36 backers.

The stretch goals from here to the maximum at $62,000 are pretty close together. $4,000 per 16 pages additional until the maximum at 240 pages.

There are over 400 folks following the campaign who have not yet pledged.

We can still do this. I mean, we're gonna be a bit winded at the end, but it's still possible to hit the goals given "assets in hand."

Layout Tweak
over 2 years ago – Tue, Dec 07, 2021 at 08:01:36 AM

I've been getting some feedback about certain aspects of the layout. These are actually things I was going to get around to changing anyway, both because there was room for improvement no matter what (mostly the tiny font sizes in the secondary stat block), but also because certain aspects of the design for the Foundry VTT layout was itself an improvement over the cards, which was easier in some respects to read than the original book layout.

Nonetheless, here is a view of the revised layout. I've spent most of today tweaking this out a bit, at least when I'm not hitting F5 to refresh the screen.

What I did was tweak the "stones" that have been a feature of my layout since Hall of Judgment. I have learned a few Photoshop tricks since then, and frankly, Photoshop got better since then, so I was able to trim out some things that needed trimming, and resize the stones so they weren't quite so darn big.

That gave me some space to put the other secondary and tertiary stats with larger font, giving them some room to breathe. The overall top-to-bottom space is the same,  but fonts are bigger and there's more white space so you're not quite so ... squinty.

I'm positive I'm going to adjust things on each and every page for the final layout. For example, the damage listing will be as large as that box will allow it (right now, it can be enlarged by a few points).

But without further ado:

160 Pages Unlocked!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Dec 07, 2021 at 12:40:43 AM

The book is now as big as the 3e/4e transition book GURPS Dragons. Or Low-Tech for that matter.

Next stop: 176 pages! The horror!

(The very excellent GURPS Horror for Fourth Edition is 176 pages)

Tokens and Foundry VTT (both/and, not either/or)
over 2 years ago – Mon, Dec 06, 2021 at 08:36:05 AM

This came up in the Comments, and I wanted to be crystal clear.

Foundry VTT support is an ADDITION to the token pack, not a REPLACEMENT for it.

There will likely be four versions of the tokens as "simple" PNG images. "Full body" with both facing border (the red/yellow/green you've seen in previews) and an unmarked border for those who use VTTs like MapTool that provide a facing arrow.

There will also be versions with both those borders with "zoomed" look at just the face, the maw, or something. Because tokens are frequently pretty small on screen, and "what is that colored scribble?" is not how you want to deal with your VTT map.

There will ALSO be the integrated Foundry VTT support, which will have all of that, plus the stats in a format that will match the cards. Because the layout that was tweaked for Foundry VTT was an improvement on what I had.

So it's both/and, not "ha ha, if you don't have Foundry you're screwed."
